Anders Söderholm new director general of UKÄ
The government has appointed Anders Söderholm to be the new director general of Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ). He will take office on 1 August 2017.
The government’s decision was announced by Helene Hellmark Knutsson, Minister for higher education and research, at a press conference, earlier today, on 27 April 2017.
UKÄ is currently introducing a new quality assurance system. The government has also announced that it will add a new mission that involves quality assurance of research. UKÄ will thus have a more complete responsibility for the entire university sector and as the new director general, Anders Söderholm will be responsible for the launch of this, said Helene Hellmark Knutsson.
I am honoured by the trust expressed by the government and the minister in appointing me as the director general. Leading and developing UKÄ's operations is a large and complex mission, said Anders Söderholm.
It is particularly rewarding to be involved in the new mission regarding quality assurance of research. With this new mission, UKÄ's mandate becomes more complete while the higher education institutions will be more responsible for actively contributing to the quality assurance. It is a joint mission between UKÄ and the higher education institutions that I look forward to, said Anders Söderholm.
Anders Söderholm is currently secretary general of The Association of Swedish Higher Education. He has also been vice-chancellor at Umeå School of Business and Economics and Mid Sweden University. Anders Söderholm is a professor of business administration.
